We live in the foothills of the Cascades, an hour from Seattle, along the
Stillaguamish River. To the west is the Puget Sound and the Islands, north
lies a sea of trees.
At night, out the back door, to the left of the big cedar, is the North
Star and Big Dipper. Out front, between the trees, the featured
constellation is Orion.
Our house is heated with just firewood and is surrounded by gardens and
mowed lawn. Six long windows let us see the effects of the seasons on our
projects.
Inside the back window, our table abuts the wall so we can look out to
where we feed the birds and see our oldest garden.
One evening, having dinner with a special friend, a peacock walked by.
I think we were having Thai food.
